i clicked reply to reply to a comment here. it reloaded the page. because itch.io is terrible. i lost all progress. nah. i was at 950 million with everything maxed and i was NOT getting any streaks for several minutes.
I found this to be very tedious. Maybe the thing that put me off the most was the feeling that it seem mathematically optimal not to ever try for more than one-in-a-row until the multiplier gets to at least 2ish. I haven't done the math here, but when the first Multiplier upgrade only gives a 10% bonus, but a 50% chance to lose everything, there's no sense in taking the risk. The result is that you just cash out after every win for... a long time.
Part of the "fun" of incremental games is also the curiosity of what's coming up in the game. Like when there's tech tree that's gradually revealed. You want to keep playing just to discover what's next. But here, everything's on the table right from the start. That feels like it could use some work.
Hmm. I'm not sure the math is way off. But please correct me if that's the case.
I calculated it out a bit. First, the coin value itself doesn't factor into the decision of whether to cash out or not, unless getting more would cause you to hit the cap. But just by the straight math of it, if you're considering how much money you get per toss, I think you definitely make more money by banking immediately until you start getting the multiplier up to around 1.5, and the luck up to around 0.7. Below that, it just always seems better to cash out immediately, rather than risk another clip.
The other really important thing to consider is that even if going for two-in-a-row has a slight mathematical edge at a certain point, it's probably still better to bank immediately in order to get enough money to afford the next upgrade ASAP. For example, if I only need $4 to afford an upgrade, and I have $5 I can bank, I should immediately bank it and buy the upgrade, rather than go for a $10 payout.
I didn't factor in insurance into this. But the whole point is, these numeric values feel kind of lousy for a game like this.
And compare, you will then have proof that we are right. Also please remove those stupid "MAX" on the upgrades! They should upgrade INDEFINITELY. The "max" is just a FUN-KILLER
This is at the end of the day still a game about chance. Having indefine upgrades removes the whole chance aspect. Plus having a max makes it like you've reach an end point.
To the "bad" balacing: Are you upset that the percentages of heads doesn't feel like what it actually is? If that's the case then I'm very sorry but that's just plain statistics and chance calculations. Sometimes you get streaks upon streaks of heads even with 80/90 or even 95% head chance. Just because that number is high doesn't mean it isn't unlikely to happen.
Well, this is ridiculously badly balanced. With max upgrade you'll make on average 1.6k before your streak fails. You need to reach a billion to win.
Coin multiplier, luck, insurance, and luck could all have way higher cap to make things reasonable. Meanwhile the max pot upgrade goes so far beyond anything even remotely useful it's almost funny.
you'd need 14 in a row to hit 1 Billion in a single run, which is a sub 1% chance. Even 12 in a row is sub 2% and you'd need to get that several times.
Hey, thanks for the feedback! I haven't played the game myself yet but according to my calculations after unlocking all the upgrades it should take you approximately 10 minutes to land 14 in a row considering a coin flip takes 1 second. I could be wrong tho
And, for the record, it took me a lot longer than ten minutes before I finally gave up on it. Even if something takes ten minutes on average, then a small number of users will be waiting much, much longer than that.
The in-game help shows a right-click mouse button and the words "Cash Out." I think some people took that to mean that you can right-click anywhere to cash out.
In reality, you have to right click on the coin, specifically, which wasn't conveyed.

Small and fun timekiller. Nothing special but it works to waste like 45 minutes.

thumbs down.
"and i was NOT getting any streaks for several minutes"
Yeah- That's just how statistics work... It's not a garantee to get a heads even with good odds.

Your math is way off. Game encourages you to flip again until you bust actually.

Even though values aren't that bad I admit they are a little higher than I expected.
If my math is correct expected values for these parameters are:
0.77 per flip for Grinder
0.79 per flip for Risker
aint no way bro took a game that serious
Simple and good as side-entertainment.
I dont understand why everyone is complaining, tbh i liked it, finished it in about 45 minutes, it was fun
I agree, others have said it is ridiculously badly balanced.

Well, there are things that you can't max, for example the insurance, then it would be too easy

Thank you for showing me that my Game-Luck sucks!
Maxed the Luck for 70% chance to win, only for me to lose 15 times in a row. :D
Well, this is ridiculously badly balanced.

Also I left max payout uncapped so that people can chase high scores
But where's the fun in flipping the coin for ten minutes straight with no progress?
I second this.
And, for the record, it took me a lot longer than ten minutes before I finally gave up on it. Even if something takes ten minutes on average, then a small number of users will be waiting much, much longer than that.
"I havent played the game myself yet." My dude you're the developer tf you mean havent played.
right click does not cash out. unless you need to hit the first bar.
Interesting... You should be able to cash out whenever you want by right clicking on the coin.
I personally have no issues with cashing out
